In 2018, the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) adopted a new chapter on the welfare of pigs into its Terrestrial Animal Health Code. The chapter was the culmination of drafting and revision by a working group of regional, scientific experts and amended by member country consultation over a two-year cycle. With the chapter in place, the next step is to implement it, which is supported through the dissemination of best practices throughout the global and regional industries. The aim of this program is to bring together leading experts to present the WOAH chapter 7.13 “Animal Welfare and Pig Production” topics in a logical and accessible format.
